Current Projects
Our current projects include many significant expansions and additions that will have an impact for decades—or even generations. The following is a short list of our current projects:

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Caring for premature, challenged, or fragile births is now carefully planned for at Henry Mayo, but it involves travel to out-of-area Neonatal Intensive Care Units, or NICU. A NICU at Henry Mayo will ensure that we are more prepared for  pregnancies, with care close to home—and close to family and friends. Henry Mayo’s NICU, NOW OPEN, is a priority for every family in the area.

New Operating Room and Expanded Surgical Department

Following approval by the California Department of Public Health, our newly constructed inpatient OR, was placed in operation in October 2011. The OR expansion includes a new state-of-the art operating room--a fully integrated laparoscopic theater, allowing the surgical staff to coordinate procedures from central control stations. In addition, there are two more recovery stations, a remodel of the physicians' and nurses' lounges and locker rooms, and the comprehensive renovation of the current Gastrointestinal (GI) Lab. The expansion will accommodate increased surgery cases and complexities, allow for easier access and maneuverability, and will include advanced technological and mechanical upgrades.

New Parking Structure and Helipad May 1, 2011 marked the official opening of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital’s new parking structure and helipad, bringing improved access to the facility and faster emergency/trauma care for the community. The helipad is absolutely key to retaining our Class II Trauma Center designation, and for serving the 650-square-mile area around Santa Clarita with rapid transport in times of most dire injuries.
