With a “wall-busting” celebration on December 14, 2010, the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital began construction of the brand new 11-bed Kim and Steven Ullman Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The NICU will allow the hospital to provide expectant mothers in Santa Clarita a full range of maternity services.

Slated to open in 2011, the project will upgrade Henry Mayo’s current maternity services, providing comprehensive care for all mothers and babies. This state-of-the-art, high tech NICU will also offer a warm and nurturing environment to meet the needs of our tiniest patients right here in Santa Clarita. 

The new NICU will give parents peace of mind knowing that Henry Mayo can provide a higher level of care to infants in need of specialized healthcare. These babies will now receive care near their homes and families.

Henry Mayo’s NICU will be equipped and staffed with a full range of highly specialized experts, equipment and materials to ensure the best care for babies. Respiratory care specialists, nutritionists, pharmacists, physical and occupational therapists will all provide support for the newborn and mother. A neonatologist will oversee care and nurses with advanced training in infant care will provide continual monitoring.

A NICU at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital solidifies Santa Clarita as a destination of choice for young families. It strengthens our entire community by keeping mothers, fathers and their newborns together at a most critical time.
