David Medoff is grateful to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital for being an integral part of caring for him, and other family members through the past years - so grateful that he made a generous donation to support the construction of Henry Mayo’s new technologically-advanced operating room, which will be named after his company, TriMed Inc.
David’s association with Henry Mayo began when he was admitted to the ER with chest pains and was diagnosed as suffering a mild heart attack. The care he received at Henry Mayo was excellent and it wasn’t until his doctor informed him that he would need a “stent” implanted, that David learned he would have to be transferred out of Henry Mayo for the surgery to be performed.
“I had to wait about three days until the other hospital could schedule the surgery and then had to be transported by ambulance,” David said. “I was far away from my friends and family which was taxing, not to mention the additional time off work I had to take.”
When David discovered that Henry Mayo was building a new operating room that would support open-heart surgery, heart valve replacement, stent insertions and other advanced heart-related surgical procedures he contacted the hospital to see how he could help.
“Henry Mayo has taken such good care of my family and me over the years, that it seemed like a no-brainer to give back,” David commented. “When I heard about the new OR, I remembered what it was like to have to be transferred out of my community for heart surgery and knew that I wanted to help so other patients didn’t have to be moved.”
“We are grateful to David Medoff and TriMed Inc. for the generous donation in support of the newly constructed state-of-the art surgery suite,” said Diana Vose, president of the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation. “This gift helps fund an essential component of the hospital expansion, which will provide advanced technological surgical procedures.”
Multiple commemorative naming opportunities throughout the hospital are available for interested donors. To learn about additional OR naming opportunities or to support the Henry Mayo’s new heart services, please contact the Foundation at 661-200-1200.
