The 38th Annual Frontier Toyota/Henry Mayo “Drive Safe” Golf Classic exceeded the expectations of both golfers and event organizers by offering a remarkable day of entertainment while raising $325,000 for trauma and emergency care at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital.
The tournament, held at the Valencia Country Club on Saturday, May 21, brought together 180 golfers and more than 70 local and national sponsors, including Frontier Toyota, the title sponsor since 1996, Sodexo, Jacobus Consulting, Medline, SWA Architects, United Westlabs, Inc., Magazine of Santa Clarita, The Signal. Following the tournament, Rattler’s BAR B QUE provided a delicious buffet dinner of barbecued meats, salads, sides and desserts.
Players and guests enjoyed a full day of golf, food, and fun activities. The evening provided an awards ceremony as well as live and silent auctions, where attendees bid on vacation packages, jewelry, and more. Over 120 volunteers helped to make sure that everyone had a great time.
“This is truly the premier golf tournament in our community, with participants supporting important hospital services for more than 30 years,” said Bill Sloan of California United Bank. “I’ve never played in another tournament that provides so much fun and entertainment on the course.”
Since its 1974 inception, the tournament has raised more than $4.5 million to support the hospital.
