The Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation is proud to welcome Chace Unruh, DC, and Charanjit Saroa, MD, as new members of its 2011 Board of Directors.
A native of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Dr. Unruh now lives in Santa Clarita with his wife Cassidy and their three young children, two of whom were born at Henry Mayo Hospital. He is director of the Unruh Spine Center in Newhall, a six-member practice, which he founded 12 years ago.
Dr. Unruh, who accepted Foundation Board membership on the advice of a colleague, is getting the word out to the community about the great strides the hospital has made and continues to make for our growing community.
“I want to be involved in the community and Henry Mayo is a community hospital,” Dr. Unruh said. “I plan to live here the rest of my life and I feel a responsibility to help educate the community as to how great this hospital is. It’s obvious that hospital leadership has made the right decisions and attracted the right kind of people here.”
Dr. Charanjit Saroa, who lives in Santa Clarita with his wife and five children, has had his own practice, Valencia Pulmonary Group, for the past 22 years. He serves as medical director of the ICU and DOU at Henry Mayo, and is board certified in internal medicine, critical care medicine, pulmonary disease and sleep medicine.
Dr. Saroa is strongly committed to the Foundation’s mission to raise funds for the hospital’s capital needs and has demonstrated his support through philanthropic gifts to the ICU and emergency room expansion campaigns.
“Being part of this community and its hospital, I want to make sure we have the services and technology to provide great health care to our patients and that no one needs to leave our community to get care,” Dr. Saroa said. “My priority as a Foundation board member will be to encourage philanthropy among other doctors.”
“We are delighted to have Dr. Unruh and Dr. Saroa on our Board of Directors,” said Diana Vose, president of the Foundation. “Their leadership provides immense value in opening new doors to share the good news about
Henry Mayo’s plans for state-of-the-art healthcare services that benefit the Santa Clarita Valley community.”
Established in 1984, the Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation has raised nearly $50 million. Most recent accomplishments include the emergency room expansion, a new cardiac cath lab, and an 18-bed intensive care unit. A new 11-bed, state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is slated for completion in December 2011.
